Youth

Rotary Rotorua Sunrise takes part in a number of projects to promote youth development in our community. Some of the youth programmes that Rotary Rotorua Sunrise is involved in are as follows;

Outward Bound

The purpose of Outward Bound is to teach social and emotional behaviours with strong values framework, including self awareness, self management, social awareness, and social skills. Rotary Rotorua Sunrise offers scholarships to young leaders locally to attend Outward Bound.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

RYLA is designed to provide young people with and educational and social experience with emphasis on leadership development. It is a week long live in seminar for youth who demonstrate strong community and leadership qualities. Selection for RYLA publicly recognises the individual’s qualities as a leader in the community.

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment is aimed for that large group of, both Boys and girls, aged 14 to 16 years, who have shown some qualities of decency, courage, persistence, sincerity and application in everyday life, which deserve further development.

International Youth Exchanges (IYE)

As a Rotary Youth Exchange student, you’ll spend up to a year living with a few host families and attending school in a different country. Whether you participate in Rotary’s long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programs, you’ll learn a new way of living, a great deal about yourself, and maybe even a new language. You’ll also be an ambassador, teaching people you meet about your country, culture, and ideas. You can help bring the world closer – and make some good friends in the process. More than 8,000 young people each year have experiences like these through Rotary Youth Exchange. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime. Are you ready for it?

Rotoract and Interact are other Rotary sponsored programs.
