Jordan’s Story – RYLA Scholarship Alumni

Before I was recommended RYLA I was apprehensive toward these sorts of things, putting myself out there just wasn’t my thing. Even though I knew I was active in my community as a leader-type figure I never wanted to take the next step in my own self-development, however, I decided to take the plunge and apply. After the initial shock of being selected it finally sunk in that I’d be on a leadership-focused course for a week with other young leaders in their community across the region. I was full of a mix of anxiety and excitement to challenge myself and see where I stacked up amongst other like-minded people my age.

After the first day at the camp I knew this was where I needed to be, the facilitation of RYLA was truly top-notch and has lead to me becoming a hell of a lot more comfortable in my own skin and manifested a healthy desire to continue my own personal growth in my fields of interest and build these into my dream future. I would highly recommend this course to anyone of age that isn’t quite sure on where they’re going but already has a certain degree of stature within the Rotorua community as a young leader. The tools that RYLA enables you with are lifelong so my final words of advice are to show up with some sort of recording device and a positive attitude and open mind!
